Still, once you get the "Knock Down" tactic relatively early in the game you've got all you need. For whatever reason you don't get all the Tactics options at the beginning of the game but instead unlock new ones as you beat story bosses.

It's not full control, but good enough and they'll mostly do what you want. Use the Tactics commands for your teammates. Oh yeah, and your main character is limited to the type of weapon they can use in P3P, which means they can't equip Mjolnir, so fuck that. The only real downside I guess is not being able to play the female main character path. Exploring the city is a huge part of the immersion for me, especially towards the end where there are some changes. I've never played the Portable version, the idea of clicking through the world and the story being told visual novel style is a big turnoff. The main complaint for the game is lack of full party control, but if you use your Tactics, more on that in a bit, it's pretty much a non-issue. At least the Journey, never got around to the Answer, whenever I try I realize I don't care to see anything else involving the story. I'm also curious on why they even made her character in the first place if they weren't even gonna make her cannon.

Plus I really doubt they will go as far as to make different cut scenes with her as it would make the work load more for them, but who knows.
The only thing that the portable version has over FES is the full party control, but imo I really had no trouble with that in FES as you could assign commands to your party.Įdit: If Atlus do decide to make a definite version I really doubt they are gonna add the female MC only because she hasn't been cannon in any of the Persona games. Only go with the portable version if you want to do a second play through.
Even though she has some great social links her presence just does not fit the game imo. Plus some people like to harp on that portable version is better cause of the female MC, but I honestly believe she just ruins the atmosphere. For your first play through go with FES only because having full on experience with the presentation and atmosphere which the portable version lacks is the best way to experience Persona 3.
